What's Holding You Back?

Stef Health Tips

When I first started teaching cycling, there was one woman who was a regular in my classes. I ran into her the other day and it was so great to see how well she was doing; she had slimmed down, toned up, and exuded complete confidence. While we were talking, she reminded me of a motivational scenario I used to talk about in my classes. She told me that this scenario changed her view on fitness and sparked that fire to help her transform her health. I'm sharing this on my blog in hopes that it will inspire you as well.

The key to getting the most out of a spin class is learning to take yourself "outside" of the room. Taking your mind and heart outside of the room will help you add more emotion to the class and exert more meaningful effort. This scenario came about from a personal time in my life; I had gained weight freshman year of college and started to lose my confidence. I looked at my lack of confidence as a heavy chain, dragging my bike and trying to hold me back from living my life to the fullest. I remember the day when I biked so intensely that I broke that chain in my mind; that moment fueled me to get back on track and I soon found a healthy lifestyle balance.

Think about something in your life that is holding you back- doubt, failure, rejection, betrayal, fear, anger, criticism, etc- and use that to your advantage. Take those chains and BREAK them. Sometimes, those chains can even represent toxic people in your life that you want to free yourself from. When you combine your emotional and physical beings during a workout, the results are invigorating.

Find what means something to you and what is holding you back. Break through those chains because better things are ahead of you.

Xoxo,

Stefani
