Hi friends! It's been a while. With the update to my website and the new clean, fresh look, I thought I'd hop on and write a quick blog post about a few things that have been on my mind recently.
It's August 9, 2020 as I write this post and I would be remiss if I didn't bring up the craziness of the past few months for all of us. Coronavirus has completely changed our world in every single aspect of life. But I truly feel that it is more important now than ever for us to prioritize our health and wellbeing. Between limited social interaction, being stuck at home, closed gyms, and just the chaos in general, it can really take a toll on the mind, body, and soul.
The phrase that keeps coming to mind for me during this time is "conscious effort." Prior to covid, I was just in my routine. Work, workout, meal prep, see friends, enjoy life, stay active, drink water, repeat. Healthy living was just a routine for me, I didn't have to put much thought into it and my lifestyle was conducive to keeping me physically active. But with all of these changes, I have really had to make a point every single day to keep my health a top priority. If I didn't, I would just be sitting down all day long working on my computer, not drinking any water, and not making the best food choices for my body. Not to mention the social aspects; I could just sit at home and not interact with anyone and not get any fresh air, but do you know what toll that takes on the body?
Here's the thing... that "conscious effort" is who I am. It's my intention to live better and be better every single day. It gives me something to work towards and look forward too. Plus, I know my body will feel better when I make the "conscious effort" to go for a walk, drink enough water, make healthy food choices, call a friend, and more. The human body is designed to move and be nourished with incredible foods to perform at its peak.
I'm proud of myself for keeping my spirits and motivation high, and still prioritizing my health even during the craziest of times. And my body feels AMAZING for it. That's the whole point- when you make the effort consistently, you get the reward and those rewards keep you going. But you can't expect to get that amazing rewarding feeling overnight; it takes consistency, patience, and time.
It's the aspect of intention and having the integrity to YOURSELF to make promises and keep them. We all have integrity to our work, spouse, etc, but what about having integrity to YOU? Do you keep saying you'll do something or keep setting goals, only to break that promise to yourself? It's time to hold ourselves accountable and prioritize our wellbeing. This pandemic should bring things into perspective for us and help us understand that our health is number one priority. Take care of your body, it's the only place you have to live.
Love,
Stefani
